Car and Motorcycle Rental | Pacific Travel Services Hotel Reservations
Driving in Greece for many tourists might be a bit of an adventure - but it is the best way to see the country as it really is. It allows you to stop wherever you like and gives you the necessary flexibility to explore Greece and its hidden beauties. Discover Greece, enjoy this amazing and unique experience and taste a bit of paradise on earth!!! Do not be afraid of driving around in Greece and Athens, traffic is not worse than in any other capital like Rome, Paris or Madrid. Once in the car, you will immediately realize that all road and traffic signs are in Greek and Latin. Never forget to have a detailed roadmap in the car, which helps you to find your way back to civilization even from the most remote places you explored.
There is an abundance of rental cars, with considerable variation in prices. If you must have an automatic, we strongly advise to contact PACIFIC TRAVEL for your reservation before leaving home and well in advance, as most of the cars in Greece as in any other European country have regular stick shift.
Most companies require that the renter is at least 21 years old, possesses an European or international driving license and has a major credit card. Daily rates for small cars (Fiat seicento, Daewoo Matiz, Hyundai Atos) start at about 30 Euro (low season) to 50 Euro (high season), unlimited mileage and insurance included. And of course, do not forget, the longer you keep the car, the cheaper the daily charge is.
Mopeds and motorcycles are available for hire wherever there are tourists to rent them. In many cases their maintenance has been minimal, so check the machine before you hire it - especially the brakes: you will need them!!!
Motorcycles are an inexpensive way to explore the islands - you will find beautiful, isolated beaches, deserted caves, picturesque villages - but be very careful driving them: roads are often poorly paved and without railing, loose gravel or stones are another common problem. As distances on the islands are very short, you will for sure enjoy your drive.
Just make sure you have a driver's license if you want to rent one. Helmets are compulsory for motorcyclists - do not worry, you do not have to bring them with you - rental agencies provide them with no extra charge! Rates vary from approximately 10 (low season) to 30 Euro per day for a moped or motorbike.

Boat Services | Pacific Travel Services Hotel Reservations
For most people, traveling in Greece means island-hopping. Every island has a ferry service of some kind, although in winter services are not very regular. Daily services to all islands start from April onwards, and by July and August there are countless services criss-crossing the Greek waters. There are boats in all shapes and sizes, from the giant car ferries that work the major routes to the hydrofoils, catamarans and small local boats that link an island in one group with an island in another.
Piraeus Port. The ferries for the Cyclades, Dodecanese, the North-Eastern Aegean, Saronic Gulf islands and Crete leave from Piraeus, the main port of Athens. Athens' second port is Rafina, approximately 60 km from the city center, 10 km from Athens International Airport and easily reachable by bus. There are boats from Rafina to Evia and some of the Cyclades, such as Andros, Tinos and Mykonos. The port of Lavrio, in southern Attica, offers the only ferry link from the mainland to the Cycladic island of Kea. There are plenty of buses from Athens to Lavrio.
Ferries to the Ionian islands leave from the ports of Patras and Killini on the Peloponnese, at about 3 hours from Athens by train or bus. Ferries for the Sporades leave from Volos and Aghios Konstantinos. The ride to the ports takes approx. 3 hours to Aghios Konstantinos and 5 hours to Volos by bus; consider this bus trip as an opportunity to discover the beauties of the Greek mainland.
Ferry timetables change from year to year and season to season and are sometimes subject to delays and cancellations at short notice due to bad weather. No timetable is infallible, but the comprehensive weekly lists of departures from Piraeus put out by the EOT (National Tourist Information) in Athens, are as accurate as possible. Usually the local port police are considered to have the most up-to-date information.
Traveling time can vary considerably from one ferry to another, depending on how many islands are called in on the way to your destination. For example, the Piraeus Crete trip can take between 9 and 14 hours, depending on the kind of boat you take. As most of the islands are rather far away from the mainland, you save a lot of time traveling on the hydrofoils and catamarans (Santorini: ferry 12 hours, hydrofoil 7 hours; Mykonos: ferry 6 hours, catamaran 3 hours). This means, of course, that the fast boats are double price. So, if the regular ferry to Paros costs 16 Euro on a Deck seat - which is always the cheapest - the fast one would cost 34 Euro per person. You see, half sailing time - double the price.
